Chris Moneymaker: Amateur Wrestler?
September 11, 2008
Pretty hilarious thread on 2+2 here, with photographic proof (assuming it’s legit, of course) of a late night drunken wrestling match at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas involving a shirtless Chris Moneymaker:

Talk About Sick Beats at the APPT Macau
September 3, 2008
We’ve all had sick beats at the table, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone blow chunks into their freaking hat:

He’s been gradually going downhill all day, but it all turned very ugly a few minutes ago when he deposited the night’s takings straight into his cap.
After a brief “rest” in the nearby men’s facility (and a few laps of the Grand Waldo in a porcelain bus), he returned but has spent much of this level slumped over the table, only occasionally lifting his head to glance at his cards.
One player at table nine just commented about flopping the nuts. The reply was swift: “Man, please don’t mention food.”
A stickler for the rules, McDonagh just announced that all players in the main event should “wake up – we need you awake to play. Including table nine”.
Brian Townsend Admits Multiple Accounts
September 2, 2008
Online whiz kid (and one of the principals at CardRunners) Brian Townsend was recently outted as to running multiple accounts on Full Tilt and PokerStars, and he’s finally come forward and ‘fessed up himself after rumors began surfacing weeks ago as to his playing with multiple accounts:
For the past 6 months I have been playing under the 2nd aliases Stellarnebula on FTP and makersmark66 on PokerStars. I have not used the aba20 account on Stars since I began playing on the Makersmark66 account. I have since gone back to using the aba20 account and will play only that account. During this time I played the 25/50 and 100/200 PLO games. I played under the Stellarnebula account from February until the end of June at which time Lee Jones and I had a discussion and we came to an agreement that I needed to close it. During this time I was playing under the Brian Townsend account, never at the same table with the Stellarnebula. Under the Stellarnebula account I played 25/50, 50/100, and 100/200 PLO. During this time I played a very small amount of 50/100 PLO and primarily 200/400 PLO under the Brian Townsend account.
I wanted to have come forward and make this public sooner, but unfortunately because of certain business relationships I could not do that. What I did was wrong and I am going to be punished by FullTilt poker by having my red pro status revoked for 6 months. I am unsure what action, if any, PokerStars will take.
He’s also fielding questions (well, selectively fielding questions) about the issue over at this 2+2 thread.
Think You’re Running Bad? Think Again
August 7, 2008
Any poker player that’s logged a decent number of hands has hit a rough patch when seemingly nothing goes right, but it’s usually a fairly short rough patch. Running terribly (60 or so buy-ins below equity at $100NL) over 80,000+ hands, though, is a whole other world of suck:

The maths of encountering such a streak of bad luck (which is essentially what happens when you’re running below your expected equity) is somewhere around .005%, so, umm, yeah. That’s running pretty damn bad.
